Dr. Sara Ng
BSc MBBS FRACP FRCPA
Dr Sara Ng is a consultant clinical and laboratory haematologist who completed her medical degree at The University of Sydney. She completed a Bachelor of Science with majors in Pharmacology and Biochemistry prior to studying medicine. She has experience in treating both malignant and general haematological issues with specific clinical and research interests in clotting and bleeding disorders.
She became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists Australasia after completing her training at Liverpool and Prince of Wales Hospitals. She subsequently undertook a fellowship in Thrombosis medicine at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute/The University of Ottawa, Canada. She was awarded a grant through the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) Training Fellowship Program to collaborate with international clinicians focusing on women with bleeding disorders.
Dr Ng is a current co-chair of the ISTH scientific subcommittee (ISTH-SSC) on the Control of Anticoagulation. Her current projects include research in cancer-associated thrombosis, iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis, haematological issues in women’s health and outcomes in venous thromboembolic (VTE) disease. She also has ongoing laboratory projects in haematology, coagulation and transfusion medicine within the South West Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) and NSW Health Pathology.
Dr Ng has public hospital appointments at Bankstown-Lidcombe and Liverpool Hospitals. She is the current clinical lead for thrombosis and haemostasis in the SWSLHD. She is also a Senior Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales.
